Heritage Week - Celebrating 400 Years at Huntington Castle

Celebrate Huntington Castle's 400th Anniversary on Saturday, 23 August with us! This free event will feature a talk by two respected historians and authors, and is sure to sell out! Limited spaces available.

12:00 - Seamus O'Brien 

'400 years of Landscaping, Gardening and Planting'

Join Seamus O’Brien, Director of the National Botanic Gardens Kilmacurragh as he takes us on a journey through 400 years of landscaping, gardening and planting - this talk will be conducted out side and will explore the 1680’s Lime Avenue, The Yew Walk, The formal Italian Gardens and 17th Century Wilderness - you should wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear. (In the event of very heavy rainfall we may move the talk indoors - but the plan is to be outside)

‘The History of Huntington Castle an Illustrated History'

Join Professor Kevin Whelan of Notre Dame University, Clonegal native and one of the Ireland’s leading experts on 17th Century History as he explores ‘Huntington Castle an illustrated History’ this talk will take place indoors and have pictures and power point slides from Kevin's extensive research and records. The spaces are limited so If for whatever reason you can’t make it please do email us to let us know in good time and we can offer the space to someone else.
